Essential Trampoline Drills and Progressions with Elite Coach Steve Gluckstein

Today on the podcast I am super stoked to have back on my good buddy Steve Gluckstein, who, in his previous very popular episode discussed the benefits of weightlifting and strength training for gymnasts and his experiences as an Olympic level trampoline coach.

After the Rio Olympics Steven took on coaching full time at the Elite Trampoline Academy in New Jersey and also took on the position as the Junior National Team Coordinator.

I wanted to have him back on to talk more specifically about the Trampoline and TNT disciplines, as lots of people requested advice and ideas around skills and progressions in TNT, Tramp, Tumbling, and Double Mini domain.

There’s a lot of people around the world, who listen to the podcast, and are working in trampoline or tumbling, or double Mini and I dabble a lot in the artistic side because obviously, that’s my forte and my background.

But I want to make sure that we represent the other disciplines of gymnastics too, and provide help to those people around the world who work with those athletes.

We deep dive into a lot of awesome progressions for the beginners starting out in trampolining and what basics and fundamentals you should learn and master.

Steve is very generous with his knowledge and his time and shares some great ideas around how to spot trampoline skills, which is something that a lot of people get nervous about.

In the last half of the podcast we talk more about advanced trampolining, he breaks down how to twist, double somersaults, advanced skills that are more on the higher-level elite side.

People who are in the trampoline world are going to get a massive amount of value out of this and the episode as a whole.

There is also a very important debate in the middle of this podcast, I don’t want to spoil it.

It’s hilarious and a very sporadic brain moment of mine so make sure you listen to it and then head over to my Instagram  Story if it’s the week of this launching, and give us your vote for what you think, related to the very important poll.

WE DISCUSS; The base-level skills and drills your athletes need to master before you even think about harder skills.

The strength and conditioning work you should be spending more time on.

Why the flexibility demands are more intense in trampolining.

The systematic progressions for a back tuck.

How to spot on the trampoline.

And…

The great hotdog debate.
